BBC Horizon covered the very interesting and depressing fact that eating a lot of
sugar not only makes us put on weight, it can make us look older. Why? Glycation.

Glycation is where sugar becomes attached to collagen and in doing so makes the
collagen stiffer and more brittle, leading to a loss of elasticity. A study showed how
individuals with lower blood glucose levels typically looked up to 2 years younger than those with higher blood glucose levels.

Glycation is a slow naturally-occurring process which affects the structure and the activity of proteins. As well as increased sugar intake in our diets, oxidative stress factors and notably lipid peroxidation accelerate the glycation process.

Anti-glycation was identified as of key importance to Anti-ageing. We offer Ameliox, an ingredient proven

Ameliox is a liposomal complex of carnosine, an antioxidant and anti-
glycation substance, with 2 powerful oil-soluble antioxidants (silymarin and
tocopherol).

Ameliox is able to inhibit lipid peroxidation and so, prevents and slows down
the glycation process. In a clinical study, Ameliox was shown to:

* Increase skin firmness, smoothness and hydration
* Reduce the depth of wrinkles by 27 % in the crow’s feet area and by 24 % on the forehead after 1 month of treatment.
